Tourism in Vietnam has been gaining serious popularity in recent years. If we compare with other resort countries in this region, it turns out that Vietnam has the lowest prices for accommodation and recreation in general. And there is something to see here. Although many attractions have not survived, fans of outdoor activities will enjoy numerous tours inland, to remote mountainous regions, as well as exciting boat trips with obligatory stops on the most famous islands.
But every trip starts with planning. And I don't want the long-awaited vacation to turn into a spoiled mood and wasted money. Therefore, it is worth deciding in which months of the year in the region the most favorable climatic conditions are established, and in which periods it is worth refusing to travel to this part of Asia. And to answer the question of what the weather is in Vietnam in December, our small review will help.
It is believed that the first month of winter is the coldest. This is not entirely true. While the central and northern regions suffer from low temperatures, the southern part of Vietnam has all the conditions for a full-fledged swimming season. This is the main feature of this exotic corner of Asia. And many Russian tourists learned about this long ago, who specially buy vouchers on the eve of the New Year holidays.
But there is also a downside to the coin. The influx of tourists creates favorable conditions for tour operators, hotel owners and other participants in the tourism process. Prices in hotels, food and entertainment in December are among the highest.
Weather in the north
The northern regions are affected by cold fronts. The air temperature gradually decreases, reaching its minimum by the beginning of January. As a rule, it stays in the range of 15-20 degrees above zero, although it is even cooler in mountainous areas.
Precipitation practically does not fall, since the dry climatic period is in full swing. For example, in Hanoi, no more than 12 mm of precipitation falls per month, and the temperature rarely rises above 19 degrees. A similar situation is observed in Halong. Therefore, it is worth choosing these cities in December only for short excursions.
Weather in central Vietnam
In the central regions of Vietnam, the wet season is in full swing. During a month, up to 320 mm of precipitation can fall here in the form of rain, although towards the end of the month their intensity weakens and they occur much less frequently. The air and sea water temperature in this part of the country is a little more comfortable and reaches 21-26 degrees above zero.
In such conditions, you can choose one of the central cities of the country as a vacation destination, provided that you are not "eager" to spend all your free time on the seashore. In December, it is worth going here for those who pursue the goal of seeing the sights and cultural monuments located in the local area.
Southern resorts
But in the south, a real dry season begins at this time. There is practically no precipitation, so nothing will interfere with your rest. For example, you can go to Nha Trang, where the average air and water temperatures range from 22 to 28 degrees above zero. For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that sometimes real storms hit the coast, carrying mountains of sand and clay with them. At such moments, the sea becomes dirty and muddy, which does not at all contribute to a good rest on the beach.
So, if you decide to relax in December and are considering Vietnamese resorts, we advise you to pay attention to the southern regions of the country. The weather in Vietnam in December is more favorable for tourists who choose the southern coast.
